Brzezinski believes China and the United States are the greatest powers of the century. The two countries can benefit greatly from each other if they can work well together, and they will lose both interests if they can’t manage the relationship well. China and the United States feel unhappy and suspicious with each other. The United States thinks China is taking advantage of U.S economy and technology, while China thinks the United States is taking advantage of its internal affairs and gathering the allies for anti-China. The two countries really observe each other’s actions very carefully and are ready to respond. Here are the six Chinese Economic and Political objectives in the world politics:
To reduce the danger posed by China’s potential geographical encirclement as the United States seeks to link security issues with its allies Japan, South Korea and the Philippines, as well as the risks posed by blockade of shipping routes. China need to navigate on the Strait of Malacca extends to the Middle East and extends to Africa and Europe. In addition, due to the difficulty of trading by land routes to expand economic influence to Europe due to the vast land territory of Russia and Central Asia.
2. To gain a favorable role in the East Asian Community, including the Free Trade with Japan, South Korea, as well as ASEAN, to prevent US influence and important role from these regions. Lee Kuan Yew’s assertion that China wants to be the first big brother, wants to draw Asia under its influence. China has to suck ASEAN into its economic system to make sure that It will has both Economic and Military influences over the region. ASEAN is located on the very important strategic geopolitics, it can connect to South Asia, East Asia, Middle East and Africa through Indian Ocean. ASEAN has South China Sea as the central place.
3. To strengthen and cooperate with Pakistan to counter Indian influence and to give China the access to the Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf through shipping and port systems with those countries to facilitate the import and export for expanding its influence.
4. To obtain a significant edges of economic dominance over Russia in Central Asia and Mongolia. China needs to shift its influence over the surrounding areas to meet the demand for natural resources, expand its economy, and maintain stability and security because these areas are close to China. These areas were under Soviet and US influence to encircle China.
5. China needs to unite Taiwan as soon as possible. Taiwan is the core factor of Chinese security and power which is the Chinese biggest enemies use Taiwan as the tool to threat it (China). China must adhere to Deng Xiaoping’s policy of “one country, two systems”. “The True power never keeps its weakness for enemy to invade”. Lee Kuan Yew also believed that China will be successful in unifying Taiwan. Taiwan now is struggling to strengthen its military might by buying jet fighters from U.S.
To gain a favorable economic influence and in politics indirectly in regions such as the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, to ensure access to raw materials, minerals, agricultural products and energy, while also creating markets for factory products. Chinese industry could eventually dominate economic and political influence in these regions. China needs raw materials and energies to support its economic growth and needs more markets for its manufacturing products. There is a very famous quote from Machiavelli saying that ” If you can win by deception, save your energy. No need to use your forces”. China wants to be global superpower by never by fighting, but seeks for victories without fighting.
