DeSantis leads Trump by 8 points among Florida Republicans in a prospective 2024 primary, according to a USA Today-Suffolk University poll released last month. DeSantis has polled ahead of Trump in his own state, but he is considered to be the top candidate for the GOP nomination if Trump decides not to run. According to the latest ABC News/Ipsos poll, 38 percent of respondents say Republicans are more equipped to handle inflation than Democrats, who are viewed favorably by only 21 percent of respondents.
