Rep. James Comer urges defunding the FBI unless Congress is provided with information regarding Twitter collusion
Rep. James Comer, who will likely take over as chair of the House Oversight Committee in October 2020, spoke with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Tuesday about the most recent information from the “Twitter Files” on the FBI’s role in stifling the Hunter Biden laptop story. In response to questions regarding the most recent disclosures of the Twitter files, which described the FBI’s collaboration with Twitter to combat “misinformation” and “disinformation” on the media platform, Comer highlighted that the first discovery proves wrongdoing but that further investigations will be required.

He said to Bartiromo, “Well, that means a lot more evidence of misconduct. “You know, at first I assumed that this cover-up of the Hunter Biden laptop story was being planned by two or three renegade employees. However, we now know that the FBI had a division with at least 80 agents.
The congressman said, “We also know that Twitter paid the FBI over $3 million for their time, all the time they took over the last couple of years in telling them who to suppress, who to prohibit.” “You know, the government really has no business being involved in those things. No authority was ever granted to the FBI to establish a task force to monitor social media for fake news.
The Kentuckian made reference to Zuckerberg’s admission that Facebook downplayed tales at the FBI’s request by saying, “Now, this we know with Twitter, we’ve heard similar stories from Zuckerberg.” Who knows what happened at Google and YouTube? This organization is out of control.
He spoke to the $1.7 trillion omnibus package presently being debated in the Senate, saying, “And the most aggravating thing for me right now, Maria, is that there’s additional funding for the FBI, plus a $1.75 billion headquarters facility for the FBI.” “Until the FBI comes up and tells Congress exactly what they were doing, why they were doing it, and who gave them the right to do it,” the speaker said, “we need to halt everything with the FBI, all financing.”
