The remains found on January 17, 2023, near Rush Springs, have been positively identified as those of 4-year-old Athena Brownfield, according to an announcement from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).
A postal worker who discovered Athena’s 5-year-old sister strolling about on January 10 reported her absence.
Her guardians, a married pair named Ivon and Alysia Adams, were detained due to the investigation. Ivon is accused of first-degree murder and child neglect, and Alysia is charged with the same crime.
According to reports, Alysia admitted to beating Athena to death on Christmas Day and burying her close to a fence by their former home in Rush Springs.
