Nottingham Forest announced that they are looking into claims that Chelsea fans were subjected to homophobic shouting during Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League match at City Ground.
In a statement, Forest added, “The club does not condone any sort of racist or offensive behavior and is aware of reports about shouts directed at Chelsea supporters from a minority of fans this evening.
The situation will be thoroughly looked into.
The group of LGBTQ individuals who support Forest stated they were “embarrassed and ashamed.”
Please accept our apologies on behalf of all true NFFC supporters, stated LGBTQ Trickies.
We’re not done fighting for inclusion and equality; we’re just weary of explaining to the illiterate why the chant is incorrect on many levels.
The chanting was called a “hate crime” by Chelsea Pride, the London club’s LGBTQ supporters organization.
