A 29-year-old woman was detained in News Brunswick, New Jersey after it was claimed she fabricated paperwork to register as a freshman student at New Brunswick High School.
Hyejeong Shin, 29, has been accused by the News Brunswick Police Department of “offering a fraudulent government document with intent to establish age or identity.”
According to reports, Hyejeong Shin attended classes at New Brunswick High School for four days before the high school staff became suspicious that she had submitted to the registration office a forged birth certificate.
It was difficult for the students who interacted with Shin to realize that she was a freshman.
In a statement to the media, a student said, “Some of the females I know, the girl did ask them to hang out at Commercial Avenue, but they never showed up, and she started acting odd with them.”
Some students even began a demonstration within the building to voice their displeasure with the school’s security.
Shin was discovered within the allotted 30-day period, according to the superintendent’s office of New Brunswick, and they would go on to assert that “state law forbids a pupil being barred from attending school based on lack of documentation.”
Hyejeong Shin’s enrollment in the high school is currently without a known reason.
