On Saturday, Chile declared another area to be under emergency conditions as firefighters continued to have trouble putting out hundreds of burning wildfires.
According to Interior Minister Carolina Tohá, there have been at least 22 fatalities associated with the flames and 554 injuries, including 16 that are seriously injured.
According to Tohá, there are unconfirmed reports of at least 10 individuals being missing, therefore the death toll will probably go up.
La Araucana, a territory in the south of the central-southern regions of Uble and Biobo, where the emergency declaration had already been made, received a state of calamity proclamation from the government on Saturday, allowing for more military collaboration.

The fires occur during a period of record-breaking heat.
16 fatalities occurred in Biobo, 5 in La Araucana, and 1 in Uble.
A Bolivian pilot was among those killed when a helicopter aiding in the fight against the flames crashed in La Araucana. In the collision, a mechanic from Chile also perished.
According to Tohá, who spoke at a news conference, fires have consumed an area similar to what is typically burned in a whole year.
